Vince Dobbs – Managing Consultant

Vince is passionate about education and the potential for schools to embrace innovation and evidence-based practice, to achieve excellence in both teaching and learning. The Leading and Learning Lab is dedicated to collaborative partnering with school leaders, to ignite their passion, to innovate and change through building the capacity of all staff and develop efficient practice and enhanced enjoyment.

Vince has been both a teacher and Principal in rural and city schools; in primary and secondary settings in New Zealand. Appointed a Foundation Director (Principal) at Unlimited Paenga Tawhiti Secondary School in Christchurch, he was able to demonstrate that secondary education could be reset with students as learning partners, being trusted to make decisions about their learning supported by teachers and parents. Programs were individualised for each student and curiosity and inquiry was the focus of their learning.

Recruited to the Department of Education in Victoria, Australia as a Senior Executive, Vince performed a variety of roles in policy, system leadership and school improvement. Most recently, as Senior School Improvement Practice Leader (SSIPL) he led a team of nearly 50 highly capable practitioners and Principals to partner with School Principals, Leaders and Teachers in both Primary and Secondary schools, supporting them to improve their practice and the learning outcomes for students.
